Wichita, KS — Remote

Marketing and business development leader. Builder of content engines, brand narratives, and go-to-market infrastructure from the ground up — one person, no team, no paid budget.

What I’m looking for

I'm looking for a remote marketing leadership role at a funded or growth-stage technology company — ideally one that needs its first serious marketing hire or a player-coach who can build the function rather than manage one that already exists.

The sweet spot is a company between $5M and $50M in revenue that has a real product and a real customer but hasn't yet cracked the code on content, brand, or organic demand generation. I'm the person who builds that engine. I've done it once from zero. I'm ready to do it again at higher scale and speed, with AI as a force multiplier.

If that's you, reach out at pcmccon@me.com or find me on LinkedIn.

How I work
One-person department

I've run marketing, communications, business development, program design, and web management as a single operator for six years. I don't need a team to produce. I build systems that compound — content libraries, email programs, SEO architecture — that keep working after the initial effort is spent.

AI as a force multiplier

I use AI daily across every function: drafting, editing, research, data analysis, strategic planning, and workflow automation. The output I produce today would have taken a three-person team five years ago. I think of AI fluency not as a skill to list but as a permanent upgrade to operating capacity.

Bias toward execution

Strategy without execution is noise. I write the plan and then I run the play. I've built accelerator programs, grant applications, enterprise proposals, content engines, and email programs — all from scratch, all with measurable outcomes. If it needs to get done, I find a way to get it done.

Writing at the center

My MA in English isn't a credential — it's a worldview. Good writing is good thinking made visible. I've authored 350+ articles, written congressional testimony, scripted executive speeches, and built a newsletter that outperforms industry benchmarks because the writing is actually good. That's not something you can automate your way to.

A few stories
The Skywalker Ranch Client

After securing Skywalker Ranch as a client, I stayed on the property for a few days. I saw no Ewoks in the Redwoods — but I did see the Empire's original Imperial Walker model up close. Some clients come with perks that no job description can anticipate.

Building ACCEL-KS From Nothing

When we designed the ACCEL-KS accelerator program, there was no playbook, no team, and no existing audience to sell into. We built the program structure, the GTM strategy, the partner network across four regional organizations, and the marketing from scratch. When applications opened, we were oversubscribed 4.3:1 — more than four dollars of demand for every one dollar of available capacity. More than a quarter of those applicants converted to paying subscribers. That's what a zero-budget content and community engine can do when it's been running for years before anyone asks it to sell something.

How I Got the Job at Groover Labs

I read about the founders in the local newspaper. I thought they were building the most interesting thing in Wichita, so I guessed at their potential email addresses after running a Kansas Business Entity Search, dropped them all in the BCC field, and hit send. They responded about a month later and asked if I'd come on board. Six years later, I'm still the only person who does what I do there — and the organization is a different thing entirely than it was when I walked in.
